Barium sulfate is frequently used as a filler in plastic extrusion, especially to increase polymer density for applications involving vibrational mass damping. In polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS) plastics, it can be added in amounts of up to 70%, enhancing material properties to meet specific functional needs.
